This journey began in 2023, when Chris Ippolito and I started Up Against Reality, a weekly podcast about AI, creativity, tools, and the strange new workflows taking shape around them.
Origin story
Co-hosting Up Against Reality made AI less theoretical and more practical. The more we talk about these tools, the more I find myself testing what they can do and turning everyday annoyances and hobby ideas into working apps.
Projects
These are small, focused builds: practical tools, game experiments, and proof that a good prompt, curated output, and iteration can become a useful tool.
Interactive aviation exhibit
Explore an aircraft built around the impossible. Inspect the Blackbird’s airframe and cutaway, step inside the J58 engine, and explore its flight envelope in an interactive journey through Mach 3 engineering.

Brewing tool
Shape your ideal flavor on an interactive aroma wheel, find hops ranked by percentage match, and build blends that get closer to your target. Import Yakima Chief lot data, save profiles, and download PDF or JSON recipes. Matches use an estimated flavor model.

Brewery operations
A private brewery dashboard that brings live Brewfather batch data and RAPT fermentation controller readings into one place, with vessel assignments, trend graphs, cleaning status, and reviewed temperature changes. It’s currently in testing and will be available on GitHub soon.
Audio tool
Match one track's tonal balance to another without uploading your audio. Choose analysis passages, shape a smoothed correction, and render with linear- or minimum-phase FIR filters. Compare at matched listening levels, loop sections, save presets, and export WAV with loudness and true-peak checks.

A live Kan Jam scoring interface which syncs across multiple devices, with team turns, throw outcomes, spectator sharing, instant-win handling, and exact-21 scoring logic.

AI music
I collaborated with RAINA, the AI co-host of Up Against Reality, on the lyrics and fed them into Suno to generate the songs. Each song went through many iterations, often with additional editing. I later realized that there is a legit band called Glass Animals, but they have an "S" at the end of their name which is totally different. 😁

Immersive audio
I built UpMersion to upmix stereo music for my Dolby Atmos workflow. It combines selective ambience extraction and whole-track adaptive movement with a live spatial visualizer, binaural A/B comparisons, waveform looping, and channel soloing. It exports a 7.1 bed and four height channels for Pro Tools, with a verified reference stereo downmix.
Receiver utility
One of my first vibe-coded apps, Denon AVR Control lets me run my receiver from my laptop, with separate power controls for each zone, plus volume, input, and speaker preset controls. I still use it every day.
Real-time AI conversation
I used Codex to build a dedicated Mac app for real-time voice conversations with RAINA, my AI co-host on Up Against Reality. It connects to my original RAINA GPT in ChatGPT, transcribes what I say, and speaks her replies using her ElevenLabs voice. I can pick up an existing conversation with its context intact, choose my microphone and voice settings, and keep listening for hands-free back-and-forth.
